When is the prime of your life?

When is the "prime of your life?"
If you've seen Napoleon Dynamite, you've been embarrassed on behalf of Uncle Rico, who's living back in '82.
A friend and I were talking about whether to keep our kids' old stuff for sentimental reasons. It got me thinking about whether I need to be living in the memories of "right now" forever.
Every day that I parent my 7- and 5-year-olds, I'm blown away by the chance to be their mom. I often tell them to please stop growing. But I need to stop telling them that soon. Because they don't exist for me. And I don't exist for this season of my life.
If I'm doing things "right," like a "wise old woman," every season of my life is the prime of my life. My life is a mountain of wisdom that just keeps growing, even through the scars and pain.
I love loving my kids. But there is always someone to love. There is always something to create. There is always a new beginning around the corner.
So even though my current life checks many of the boxes of things hoped for, life isn't much without hope. There is no "arrived," only anticipation. There is no "built," only building.
This same friend told me there is no better or worse, only tradeoffs. (She lives in a 2BR, 950 SF house with four children.) That's a wise old woman perspective if I ever heard one.
These are the kinds of convos aspiring wise old woman have. They're about:
What matters?
What should we care about?
How do we find meaning, purpose, and contentment in the Grand Scheme of Things?
I'm excited to start this journey with 6 women and 6 teen girls (2 separate groups) - for free - as I run the Aspiring Wise Old Woman Collective pilot.
